Ok, so I got tired of setting up & wiring pedals each time I got to rehearsals and gigs so I put together a pedalboard inspired by this page. All I needed was some Ikea Gorm shelf parts, some velcro, some dark stain, angled metal plugs, cable, cable holders and an aluminium case I had lying around. And voilá, diy wooden pedaltrain! ;)
I cut the wooden shelf pieces to fit tightly into the aluminium case because I didn’t want the board to move around when the case is thrown around. Then put in long screws to hold the shelf pieces together. Then measured where I want the pedals to be and drilled some holes for plugs to fit through the gaps in the wood. Then few layers of dark stain and waiting for it to dry..while waiting I soldered some short cables with rugged metal angle plugs (this was the most time consuming part!). After stain had dried I put velcro to the board and on pedals and stuck them in. I decided to use Visual Sound 1spot with 5-way splitter cable to power the whole thing (I higly recommend this power supply!) and put in some cable holders underneath the board to hold all cables firmly in place. I also added a small angled metal bracket to support the front of the board and some rubber grommets to stop the board from sliding around. Done!
I honestly thought this is just going to be a fun little temporary pedalboard project but goddamn! It’s rugged and road ready as is! Now I just need to build replacements for that sansamp and ebs compressor.. ;)
So the pedals are:
